Civic Engagement

Focusing on providing information and gathering input from the whole Lowell community, in 2020, CBA established A team of volunteer ambassadors that provide timely messaging around important community topics and services CBA offers:

  • Voter education and engagement activities occur annually in English, Spanish, and Khmer to be made accessible for those historically underrepresented in local leadership and decision-making.

  • Empower consists of a 9-week resident leadership program that gathers budding and established community leaders of different backgrounds to enrich community bonds and build engagement among the acre. Topics covered include interacting with local government, running meetings, and inclusion methods. Workshops are tailored to low-income residents of Lowell. Produces two graduate-led community programs each year and works in partnership with Lowell Alliance.

  • CBA is part of Lowell Votes, a coalition of three organizations working to promote voter engagement among Lowell residents. We look to garner a more equal voter turnout among the city as well as a deeper understanding of local government.
